Literary Essay on a Poem, Grade 10

I love working with students who are eager to improve their writing skills. Through writing this essay, this student learned, in particular, how to write unified paragraphs and choose the precise words needed to communicate her ideas. After I commented on some of her word choices, she eventually learned to pause on words and say, 'Wait...I need the negative connotation of ____________," which made me smile. She has become much more thoughtful and careful in her word selections. This poetry analysis essay is a great demonstration of the skills she learned.
