"The Fame and Influence of Celebrities: Their Positive Impact on Teenagers" by Issac Li
I typically present students with a list of former OSSLT essay topics, and they get to choose which essay topic they want to write about. The question of whether celebrities are a negative or positive influence on teenagers is a popular choice among high school students. What I enjoy witnessing is how each student has a different opinion on the matter and different examples to support their position. Yet, through the writing process and guidance, they are able to come up with persuasive arguments.
